FAQs

Tea Questions

What kinds of teas do you sell?

We sell herbal teas, called tisanes, along with your traditional black, green, red or white teas we blend. Occasionally we will have a breakfast or Earl Gray tea, similar to what you would find in stores (but trust us, you don't want the ones in the stores).

Why should I drink herbal teas?

Herbal teas are designed to provide your body with the nutrients and minerals it needs to perform at its best. Our teas feature tussives, bitters, and other constituents that are important to cellular regeneration, digestive health, or even cleansing the blood. Many of us don't get the minerals that would help us in these areas simply because we don't always eat the best foods possible. It's very easy to get these minerals by drinking them. Ivy's Tea Co. saves the day by providing these minerals with a tasty flavor profile.

Why should I drink loose leaf teas?

Ivy's Tea Co. teas consist of whole or broken tea leaves and you can taste the difference. When a tea leaf is left whole, it is allowed to unfold and change color in water when brewed. Store bought tea bags usually consist of the grit or dust because the tea leaves are ground up to get them to fit into the tea bag. In the tea bag, with artificial flavors and colorings, the teas are then able to appear to unfold and change color when brewed. Also, loose leaf teas are actually inexpensive compared to the others. You can brew more than one cup of tea from loose leaves, while a tea bag is typically good for only one cup of great tea. With Ivy's Tea Co. loose leaf teas, you get tea that is of the best quality and taste while supporting your health.

How many cups of tea do I get out of 2 oz of Ivy's Tea Co. tea?

Use 1 teaspoon of Ivy's Tea Co. tea for every 8 oz of water. Based on these instructions, you'll get 14 cups of tea. You can brew Ivy's Tea Co. teas twice (so don't throw out your teas after one steeping!). So, you can get as many as 28 cups of tea from each 2 oz container.

How long do I brew my teas?

Herbal teas should steep for 5 to 10 minutes

Black and Red teas should steep for 3 - 5 minutes

Green and White teas should steep for 30 seconds - 3 minutes

Experiment with your steep times to figure out which one tastes best for you.

Where do you all source your teas?

Nowhere technically. All of our teas are handmade by us. They're our own recipes. Yup. We got it like that.

What should I do if I have an allergy?

An herbalist crafts Ivy's Tea Co. teas, so you should not place your order before talking to us! Send us an email and we can try to work around your allergies. We're as accommodating as possible.

Checkout Questions

Do I have to pay for my subscription box with my credit card?

Yes. We do not accept PayPal for subscription box orders, however, you can use PayPal for any other purchase on the Ivy's Tea Co. site.

Help. My sale code won't work.

Do one of two things: 1) Check the details of the sale - usually in email or on social media (our Instagram posts are on the homepage) and 2) Check to make sure you're purchasing qualifying products from our store. We never discount sample size teas or honeys (any honey under 2 ounces in weight). And we never discount gift sets or tea/honey combination items.

I can't order as many of this tea/honey that I want. What's wrong?

When we're having a sale, we implement order maximums. You will not be able to order more than 4 of any single item that is on sale in a single transaction. We implement this policy to ensure that as many customers as possible are able to enjoy our small batch teas and honeys.

Order Inquiries

When will my order ship?

We typically ship within 2 days. However, there are instances where we are unable to adhere to this shipping policy, like the holiday season, where our processing time can be 7 to 10 days.

How will I receive my order?

You will receive your order via USPS, typically through First Class mail unless you select one of our other shipping options during checkout. Packages including glass items (like honeys) are typically in a box, while orders of strictly tea are shipped in a branded mailer.

My package was stolen! What can we do?

We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. Please file a claim with your postal service and the police, if necessary.

As a preventative measure, we offer signature confirmation free of charge to our customers. If theft is an issue in your area, please email us after you've placed your order and we'll make sure you have to sign for your package.

Consultations

Can I talk to an herbalist about a personal condition?

Yes. Please note that we do charge for consultations and they must be scheduled in advance.

Can you make custom herbal medicine for me?

Yes! That's one of our favorite things to do. Just contact us here.

What herbal medicine can you make?

We make teas, tinctures, extracts, oils, and salves. If it involves herbs, then we can do it. Remember - herbal medicine takes time. We're not doctors or pharmacists, we let the herbs work and that takes patience. We suggest that you do, too.

I saw this tea at _____. Can you make it for me/sell it in your store?

Uhhh...no. We have our own blends and recipes. We don't replicate those from others.
